Flaky French pastries, mouth-watering Asian entrees and scrumptious fresh-made sandwiches. They’re all waiting for you at Galleria West, and now there’s even more to choose from. With the arrival of Bullwinkles at the Galleria, customers have yet another delicious dining option.

A longtime favorite in the neighborhood, Bullwinkles has moved from its former location down the road, updated its décor and come under new management. You’ll still find an expansive menu with something for everyone, plenty of outdoor seating, and a bumper crop of TV screens for following your favorite teams.

“We love our new space and our new look,” said Cortney Johnson Milionis, one of four co-owners. “The windows make it brighter, and everything is more up-to-date.”

When you visit, you’ll find two spacious rooms, lots of booths and plenty of sports memorabilia. The bar is an eye-catcher, with color-changing LED lights that illuminate a patterned design.

Well known as a sports bar, Bullwinkles is a great option any time for lunch or dinner with colleagues, friends, family or teammates. The menu features wings, nachos, burgers, pizza, salads, wraps, soups and more. Ask about the extensive bourbon selection — one of the owners is a bourbon afficionado — and watch for menu updates in the fall, including the return of some old favorites from the former location. Groups of up to 50 people can be accommodated.

“It’s a big plus to be in a location that already attracts people because of delicious food,” Milionis said. “We’re happy to add to the choices and be in such good company.”

Bullwinkles is one of four eateries at Galleria West, joining Emperor’s Kitchen, Fresh Baked Cafe and Jimmy John’s.

Emperor’s Kitchen

Owner Charlee Yee and his family have been running restaurants locally since 1982, serving dishes handed down through three generations. Emperor’s Kitchen maintains the family legacy by using the freshest ingredients and highest-quality meats to serve classic American Chinese as well as custom made-to-order options. It’s located on the second floor of the Galleria West Atrium.

The extensive menu at Emperor’s Kitchen is available for either dining in or takeout. Yee said customer favorites include the House Special (spicy version) and Cantonese chicken, pork, shrimp or beef as well as their signature homemade egg rolls.

Fresh Baked Café

This European-style café and coffee shop serves pastries, sandwiches and soups made from scratch. Located in the Galleria West Atrium, it’s one of three locations for this family business. Owner and chef Jennifer Betances spent years perfecting the art of the croissant, including time studying in Europe.

Betances prides herself on using fresh ingredients year-round, including eggs from a local farmer. Her menu includes fresh-from-the-oven classics that are always available, such as Quiche Lorraine, chocolate croissants, and brioche. Additional items change regularly, such as honey chocolate bread, salted caramel croissants, and honey plum muffins, to name a few. You’ll also find a full espresso bar using beans roasted in-house.

Another point of pride for Betances is Cars, Croissant, and Coffee, a free fund-raising event held every other Sunday from June to October in the Galleria West lot. Anyone is invited to view a range of vehicles on display, from BMWs and Rolls Royces to classic American muscle cars — and of course stop by Fresh Baked Café for something sweet. The event benefits the Make-A-Wish Fund.

Jimmy John’s

Locally owned and operated, the Jimmy John’s outlet at Galleria West is popular for office lunch deliveries or in-person lunch breaks. But its fresh-to order sandwiches are welcome any time of day or night.

Jimmy John’s bakes its bread daily and also offers any sandwich as an “Unwich” if you prefer a bread-free option.
